Nate Hook band with special guest Alex Norris

Born and raised in Texas, Nate Hook’s music embodies the full tone and rich creativity of great horn players from the Lone Star State. Playing saxophone and piano as a youngster, he learned from the top musicians in the Austin community, and began playing at Austin’s premier jazz club, the Elephant Room, by age 14. Later, Nate moved from Texas and into the East Coast jazz world where he studied with the likes of Vincent Herring, Harold Mabern, Gary Thomas, and others.

In the past decade living and performing around the East Coast, Nate has played regularly at Jazz clubs from NYC to DC with musicians including Ralph Peterson, Paul Bollenback, Tyshawn Sorey, Gary Thomas, Carlo De Rosa, Jean Michel Pilc, and Bill Goodwin.

In 2016, Nate released an album ‘Progressive Overload,’ and has since issued several releases in collaboration with Paolo Cantarella under the same name combining elements of electronic music with his background in jazz.

Nate also plays bagpipes, as did John Coltrane — a little-known fact about each.
