Rafael Enciso Quartet
Rafael Enciso is an award-winning bassist and composer based in New York City. His music blends modern jazz language, layered compositions, and rhythmic openness with a sense of emotional clarity and storytelling.
Rafael has performed with Dayna Stephens, Miguel Zenon, Taylor Eigsti, Ingrid Jensen, Ben Wendel, and Marta Sanchez, appearing at venues and festivals including Carnegie Hall, Jazz At Lincoln Center, the Detroit Jazz Festival, and the Jazz Gallery.
His debut album, Crossfade, features Gabriel Chakarji, Nicola Caminiti, Jahari Stampley, and Miguel Russell, and produced by Dayna Stephens. Crossfade is set to release November 14th, 2025 via Contagious Music.
Enciso was selected by Jason Moran for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center. He is also a Mentor Fellow at the Stanford Jazz Workshop, where he works closely with the next generation of developing artists.
